Sofia Airport (SOF) Car Rental

Additional driver fee is 4.20 EUR per day with a maximum charge of 42.00 EUR per rental. Rental conditions apply to all additional drivers. All fees quoted are inclusive of VAT.

After hours returns (10pm-8am) are allowed free of charge for the Airport location. The customer should park the car in any empty spot at Enterprise parking place and return vehicle keys at the drop box, which is located at the Counter area. All vehicle documents (the parking access card as well) should be left also at the drop box. After vehicle inspection in the morning, an Enterprise representative will contact you to inform you on the vehicle inspection result.

The minimum age requirement to drive all vehicles is 21. There is no maximum rental age. No additional fees apply to young drivers.
 

Out of country (Cross Border) rentals are allowed to certain countries outside of Bulgaria. Out of country rentals require prior approval (at least 5 working days prior to the pick-up date) and are charged at an extra 120EUR per rental.

Out of country rentals are allowed only into following Countries: Albania, Bosnia, Greece, Germany, Moldova, Montenegro, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Hungary, and Switzerland.

Out of country rentals are not allowed to countries that are not listed above.

Process and publication of green card (cross border third party insurance): The minimum time of publication of a green card is 5 working days. The green card covers the rented vehicle with basic insurance (T.P.I.) as long as it remains in the borders of the country for which it is issued. Roadside assistance - car replacement is available while driving to the above listed countries except Albania, Bosnia, Moldova and Montenegro.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces the deductible in the event of damage of the vehicle.

If CDW is not included in the reservation, it is available for purchase at the rental counter. The standard deductible is 720 EUR for the vehicle categories Mini and Economy, 1200 EUR for Compact, Intermediate and Standard cars, and 1800 EUR for Full Size cars. The deductible will be charged every time a vehicle is damaged, lost, not returned.

Before purchasing CDW it is advised to determine if personal coverage is adequate to cover damage, theft, loss of revenue, administration fees, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage, or impound fees. If CDW is declined, the renter will be required to pay these charges and seek compensation through their carrier of personal coverage. CDW is not insurance.

Domestic one way rentals are allowed for all car groups and cost as follows. Sofia airport to Bourgas airport and vice versa is 150 EUR plus VAT.

Sofia airport to Varna and vice versa is 180 EUR plus VAT. Bourgas to Varna and vice versa is 70 EUR plus VAT. One-ways have to be pre-booked and the minimum length of rental must be at least 5 days for domestic one ways. All domestic one ways are on request. International one way rentals are not permitted.

Refueling policy- customers must return the car with a full tank or the same amount of fuel in the rental vehicle at time of pickup or refueling charges will apply. Unleaded-diesel - 3.00 EUR per litre, including VAT.
 

Supplementary liability protection -SLP- third party liability is included in all rates and required by law. The rental vehicle is covered for third party liability- property damages up to EUR 500,000 bodily injury or death up to EUR 500,000 for 1 person and up to EUR 2,500,000 for 2 or more persons in accordance to Bulgarian law. A copy of the third party liability policy is available in the rental vehicle for inspection.

During the winter season, all rental vehicles are fitted with winter tires in accordance with local road laws. Winter tires are included in all rates.

Personal accident insurance -PAI- is an optional coverage product which provides limited cover for death, disability and medical expenses in the event of an accident. The cost of PAI is 4 EUR per day exclusive of VAT for all car groups.

Visa, American Express, Eurocard and Mastercard credit cards are accepted. All cards presented must be in the renter’s name. A security deposit will be blocked on the credit card and the estimated cost of the rental will be charged at the time of pickup. The deposit will be released by the cardholder's bank upon notification of return of the vehicle. The security deposit for Mini and Economy car groups is 360EUR, for Compact, Intermediate and Standard car groups is 600EUR and for Full Size car groups is 1080EUR. All amounts mentioned are including VAT. Debit cards, cash cards and cash are accepted as forms of payment for the rental or to purchase additional products, but not for the security deposit block. All drivers must present a full valid driving license and a valid identity card or passport. All drivers must also have held their full license for a minimum of 1 year. Renters holding a driving license from an EU member state or a country-state, which is part of the Vienna convention accordance to the law of treaties, do not require an International Driving Permit. For all other countries a valid International Driving Permit is required along with the national/ domestic driving license. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines. Please note that we reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further identification checks if needed, which may include an identity check with an external organization. Upon the United Kingdom leaving the European Union (EU) the requirements for UK Driving license holders driving in EU member states may change. Please check requirements before travelling.
