Can I pay for someone else’s rental car in Canada?
No. The individual renting the vehicle must be present to sign the rental agreement and must provide their credit card at the time of pick up. They cannot provide a credit or debit card belonging to someone else for payment of their rental reservation.
If an individual wishes to pay for the rental car, but have someone else drive it, they can rent the vehicle in their name and add someone else as an additional driver. To be added as an additional driver, the individual must meet Canads' additional driver requirements.
